Pysanky-Hexagon Starburst


I wanted to  share with you some of my older photos of my work from years ago.

This goose egg has 4 hexagon shapes with starbursts in the middle.

I wanted to  share with you some of my older photos of my work from years ago.

I have a few designs I really like to do and like how they look. Here you will see designs that you might have noticed from many other eggs I've done. I liked how this egg came out with all the diamond  shapes.

I saw this black hand and thought what a great egg holder. I really liked the look.

The design on this egg looks like a windmill, so I call it My Windmill egg. I use this design over and over,  I change the designs and the colors and each take on a completely different look.  This is truly a fun egg.

I did a series of saddlebag eggs. Some refer to this design as teardrop. I put a starburst in the centers, and on this egg I used my washing back the green technique.

This was an ostrich egg that I used the starburst pattern to put the many designs. Not many have seen this egg because it was purchased within a week of being made. I was lucky to get this photo.

This egg was a special order. The customer only cared that it had I Love You, and Happy Anniversary, and that it had some red. Since I liked how my Red Goose egg came out, I used that design. For the writing I used stickers. The wife loved her 50th anniversary egg.

This goose egg was a study piece. I wanted to see how much detail I could get into each diamond shape.

I wanted to try my hand with  different greens. This was a test egg to see what look I could get by lightly washing the green back. I ended up using this technique on many eggs there after.

This collection of 5 goose eggs  show how I was able to use the same designs on each egg by applying them in different patterns and directions.

Etched-Gold Ring Emu Egg

This is a light colored emu egg, most are usually a darker color. I had fun etching this egg, and to bring out the etched ring designs I  applied gold with an 18k gold marking pen.

Pysanky-Starburst with Bands


I wanted to share with you some of my older photos of my work from years ago.

On this chicken egg I first started with bands around the egg. After three bands were made on the side of the egg I was left with a smaller space for a starburst.

I call this design a starburst. Some call it a flower. This design can be used to create many different and interesting eggs. This is one of the designs I really like to work with.

On this chicken egg, connecting diamond shapes form a cross on the front and back.White pussy willows designs are placed to represent St. Andrew's cross.

I'd seen so many eggs done this way, I just had to give it a try. The rushnyk and wheat designs are on a chicken egg.

The white centers on this chicken egg depicts wolves teeth, Wolves teeth are known to represent wisdom and loyalty.

On this chicken egg, front and back is an image of a cross with blue pussy willows. The wide band has many designs. I chose to use only 3 colors on this egg

Pysanky-In the Sky Egg Collection



I wanted to share with you some of my older photos of my work from years ago.

This egg photo was taken on a pane of glass that was held up towards the sky.
 In 2005, I was asked to represent my state of Arkansas with my egg art, and invited to The White House. Along with 50 other egg artists from different states, our work was on display at The White House Visitors Center. Each of us were introduced to Laura Bush.                                                         I choose this egg for the symbols : knowledge, good fortune, separating good from evil, and flowers. This is a chicken egg.

This  is a brown chicken egg. I like working with them because the the dye colors come out so rich looking.

Filigree- Sea Shells on Emu Egg


I wanted to share with you some of my older photos of my work from years ago.

This emu egg is filigreed with flowers and sea shells. It  was submitted to the International Egg Art Guild Masters Program to be judged for the master level. On October 28, 2005, I received a certificate for achieving master level in the Filigree category of egg artistry.

Carriage- Embellished Ostrich Egg


I wanted to share with you some of my older photos of my work from years ago.

Doors and windows were cut out of this ostrich egg to represent a Cinderella carriage. I learned how to do this egg from my egging friend Lynne DeBoer. I eventually made one more  carriage. My second carriage was also an ostrich egg, however it was decorated with pysanky designs.

I read that the diamond shape indicates knowledge. I have included in each diamond an  X shape cross.  A symbol for St. Andrew's Cross.

This is the side of a chicken egg.  The front has a nice wheat design. I have a collection of eggs that each were attached to a piece of clear glass and photographed. This photo was taken while the egg on the glass was being held up in the air towards the sky.

This image is on a goose egg, I'd seen such images many times and wanted to see how it would look on an egg. I choose the goose egg because I didn't want the image to be too small or to large.

Mosaics from Broken Eggs

What to do with broken egg shells. They make beautiful mosaics. You can glue these egg shell pieces to just about anything. The finished items make great gifts.

Beaded Pysanka

There are many ways to make circles. They can be made with templates, suction cups and other such instruments.  In this video you'll see how to make circles evenly placed on the egg.

 This project was done for my young friend Sarah. She loves the Minecraft  computer game.

Pray for Ukraine

This Tryzub designed egg was made because Donna asked me to make one. In case you are wondering who Donna is, she's my good friend who runs the naztazia.com website. Both Donna and my husband are of Ukrainian descent, so I wanted to make something to reflect their heritage. A Tryzub is a symbol for Ukraine.

Hanging Easter Eggs - Oberih

My First Blog Post

I'm so excited to share with you my very first blog post on my new website! Ironically, although this is my first blog post, the pysanka that I made is a design that I've done many decades ago. I call it the windmill design, although you can call it anything you want. It creates a pretty swirl design around the egg, and adds a lot of interest to your decorated egg.
